Research Interests

Mario has a background in computer science. He has worked extensively in the computer industry, developing standalone and web-based database applications for 10 years. In 2009 he commenced his PhD in bioinformatics at the University of Adelaide. During his candidature Mario developed numerous tools and web servers for text mining, Gene Ontology and Next Generation sequencing analysis. He joined the ACPFG after the completion of his PhD in 2014. He has been involved in various projects including processing Exome-Capture sequencing data and developing SNP and mutation calling methods. Mario also has involved in technical enhancement and integrating of Breeding Management System (BMS) in ACPFG. BMS is a key web java-based application to manage and automate all stages of crop breeding in agriculture industry.
