Research Interests

Jan’s primary role at ACPFG is to manage resources and regulation for the research programs at ACPFG. Jan manages regulatory compliance for ACPFG research and facilities in the areas of Gene Technology (including licenced GM field trials at sites in SA and WA), Biosecurity and Occupational Health and Safety. Jan’s responsibilities also include management of laboratory resources for our research programs and ACPFG administration. She is a member of the ACPFG Executive Management Team.


Jan Nield joined ACPFG at its inception in 2003 as ACPFG Facilities and Laboratory Manager. Jan took an active role in the design of the Plant Genomics Centre, headquarters of ACPFG at the Waite Campus. Prior to this, Jan worked with the University of Adelaide in a variety of technical and research roles. From 1990 to 2000 she was a senior laboratory technician for Professor Peter Langridge in the ARC Special Research Centre for Basic and Applied Plant Molecular Biology. From 2000 to 2003 Jan worked as technical Laboratory Manager for both Professors Peter Langridge and Geoff Fincher in the Department of Plant and Pest Science, University of Adelaide leading up to the establishment of ACPFG in 2003.
