Research Interests

Ryan is a plant molecular biologist who works on projects both in the ACPFG drought group and hybrid wheat program. He is interested in floral developmental biology and the underlying molecular mechanisms behind plant responses to abiotic stress. He has previously worked on projects ranging from meiosis to extracellular peptide-based signalling in Arabidopsis and cereals.

Biography

Ryan completed his PhD at the Co-operative Research Centre for Molecular Plant Breeding at the University of Adelaide. He worked as a Molecular Biologist for Bayer Cropscience GmbH (Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany) before a postdoctoral period within the Flemish Interuniversity Institute for Biotechnology (Ghent University, Belgium). Since returning to Australia in 2008 he has been a Postdoctoral Researcher within the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics, and in 2010 took on a leading role for the hybrid wheat program in collaboration with DuPont-Pioneer (USA).
